On the 6th of December the LifeLong Learning Centre organized together with Jubilate Foundation the concert – Messiah Oratorio, Georg Friedrich Händel.

An Introductory Lecture on the Philosophy of Alain Badiou

The LifeLong Learning Centre together with the Faculty of History and Philosophy - the Department of Systematic Philosophy, organized on the 10th of October 2008 at the Club Casa Universitarilor the conference: An Introductory Lecture on the Philosophy of Alain Badiou.

Guest Speaker: dr. Chris Watkin, Cambridge University, UK

Christopher Watkin specializes in contemporary French literature and philosophy, with a particular interest in the relation between deconstruction and phenomenology and theological themes in continental thought. He has published work on Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Jean-Luc Nancy and Paul Ricœur.

The National Codecs Congress


The National Codecs Congress - HR Vocational School – took place in Cluj-Napoca on the 4th and the 5th of September.

It was the first human resources congress organized in Romania and it aimed to tackle the hot issues in the field, as well as finding solutions for the challenges. The conference applied specifically to the HR experts, training and organizational development practitioners from Romania, challenging them to engage in dialog and to find solutions.

A research made by Manpower (the largest international leasing company) showed that Romania is facing the greatest personnel crisis in the world.

The speakers were: David Simmons (University of Webminister), Steve Crabb (Strategic Adviser CIPD & Editor People Management Magazine), Monica Grigoriu (Coaching Guild Romania), Andreea Raghina (Organisational Advancement Manager, Timken), Marian Staş (President, Codecs for Leadership Foundation), Miguel Saralegui (HR Manager Tenaris Sicotub România) etc. photo: hotnews

Through speeches, interactive plenary or optional workshops, study cases, panel discussions, book launching (David Simmonds, Designing and Delivering Training) the conference achieved what Mrs. Roxana Mocanu called “ a social and professional dialog pointing out to the Romanian human capital, claiming the European active citizenship and ensuring the social cohesion and the adaptability and employment growth.” (Roxana Mocanu, HR Vocational School Director MBA CIPD Licentiate Member).


The Babes-Bolyai University was represented in the panel discussion by the President of the Academic Council, professor Şerban Agachi who underlined the importance of matching the formation offer (under graduate and graduate formation) to the actual market demands.

The conference distinguished as / proved to be a very well organized event. We congratulate the organizers for their initiative and for their 15 years hard work in the field!

Virtual Academic Network

VIRTUAL ACADEMIC NETWORK

When: The first conference of the Center of LifeLong Learnig took place on Tuesday, the 1st of July 2008.

Location: „Casa Universitarilor” Club

Guest: Prof. Dr. Melissa Lee Price, Staffordshire University, UK

Partners: the Faculty of Theater and Television

The participants represented different faculties (Law, Business, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Psychology, European Studies, Orthodox Theology, Economics) and Centers (University Development Center and the Career Center).

Report: The information age enforces new educational patterns and Babeş-Bolyai University aims to be, as it proved so far, open and creative in the context of the global society. During the conference, dr. Melissa Lee Price introduced new directions and challenges of the actual education system due to the development of ICTS. Also, she presented the European Master of Interactive Multimedia where Babeş-Bolyai University is a partner.

The virtual university component cannot be ignored anymore in the context of the knowledge based society. This new educational field incorporates new technologies, high quality standards, partnerships between different educational systems, as well as a commitment both from the institutions and from the students who attend the programs.

The participants discussed the implications and challenges of adopting the virtual academic model from: administrative, academic structures and organizational perspectives and expressed their interest to explore new directions in the development of their academic programs.
